The Coast Guard has established NAVAL VESSEL PROTECTION ZONES that strictly regulate operations in the vicinity of U.S. Naval Vessels.Failure to comply is a felony offense, punishable by up to six years imprisonment and fines up to $250,000. In addition, violators risk being identified as an immediate threat, potentially prompting the use of deadly force. Details are provided in SpeedGram 2002-03.

Please help to give this information the widest possible dissemination among the boating public.

Do not approach within 100 yards of any U.S. naval vessel. You must operate at minimum speed within 500 yards of any U.S. Naval Vessel.
